Laser Therapy

What is Laser Therapy?

Laser Therapy, or “photobiomodulation” is the use of specific wavelengths of light (red and near-infrared) to create therapeutic effects. These effects include, but are not limited to, improved healing time, pain reduction, increased circulation, decreased swelling and vasodilation. Laser Therapy has been widely utilized in Europe by physical therapists, nurses and doctors as far back as the 1970’s. Now, after FDA clearance in 2002, laser therapy is being used extensively in the United States.

Has the Effectiveness Been Demonstrated Scientifically?

Yes. There are more than one hundred rigorously controlled, scientific studies that document the effectiveness of a laser for clinical conditions like pain, inflammation, arthritis, tendonitis, neuroma, nerve pain, joint pain – DJD/RA of any joint, especially the ankle, Achilles tendonitis, plantar fasciitis, any type of inflammatory disease or condition.

Cellular Effects of Laser Therapy

During laser therapy, the infrared laser light interacts with tissues at the cellular level, and metabolic activity increases within the cell, vastly improving the transport of nutrients across the cell membrane. This initiates the release of nitric oxcide that leads to a cascade of beneficial effects, increasing cellular function and health.

DioWave Lasers Advanced Pain Relief Technology

Drug free, pain relief is our primary goal. Our non-surgical option truly has the power (watts) to immediately and dramatically reduce and/or potentially eliminate pain, discomfort and inflammation. Effects are realized with the first treatment. A series of treatments are recommended to ensure sustained and prolonged relief.

Flooding damaged and inflamed tissue with photons energizes the are increasing elevated blood flow resulting in better oxygenation and faster recovery of the damaged cells, coupled with a cascade of healing mechanisms your body naturally employs. Treatments take only a few minutes while the therapeutic effects continue long after you leave the office.

Laser Therapeutic Effects

During each painless treatment, laser energy increases circulation, drawing water, oxygen and nutrients to the damaged area. This creates an optimal healing environment that reduces inflammation, swelling, muscle spasms, stiffness and pain. As the injured area returns to normal (homeostasis), function is restored and pain is relieved.

Dual Wavelengths Promotes Tissue Healing

The DioWave laser series employs dual infrared wavelengths of 635nm and 980nm simultaneously. These dual wavelengths are more efficient, healing tissue while also remarkably aiding in pain relief. Combining the DioWave laser series dual frequencies of continuous wave and modulation assures that each treatment you receive will be from the most advanced class IV laser technology.
